Overwatch is getting its own esports division at Blizzard

It'll be integrating MLG into this.

Blizzard has announced that it has formed a dedicated division to handle the management, operation, sales, and distribution for Overwatch esports, which will not only include the upcoming Overwatch League, but also the Overwatch World Cup (for which we now know all the groups).

This new division will also include the integration of Major League Gaming into Blizzard "which will retain the MLG name [and] will build on Blizzard's nearly 20-year history as a leader in esports."

"In addition, the associated teams and technologies will serve as the operational foundation, partnership hub, and media-production network for the Overwatch League as well as Activision's Call of Duty® World League," the press releases continues "This includes league management; team, media, advertising, and sponsorship sales; content development; and event production."

The esports team at Blizzard will remain separate, however, continuing to deal with other titles like Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, World of Warcraft, and StarCraft. With this new move, there's also more esports positions open, which you can apply for now at jobs.blizzard.com.
