Akshan will not be a playable champion at Worlds 2021

The champion hasn't been out long enough to be used in competitive play.

It turns out that we won't be seeing new champion Akshan out in the battle arena at Worlds 2021. Posting on Twitter, Peter Schmidt, head of European esports at Riot, noted that the character will be unplayable at the competition as it breaches its rules. In order for a character to be eligible for use, they need to be on the live server for at least two weeks so that they can be properly adjusted and balanced for competitive play.

The character, if you are unaware, made its debut in Wild Rift on July 27. This mid-lane marksman has been described as being tricky to master and some of his strengths, as detailed by the game's Lead Game Designer Jag, include his strong burst damage and ability to revive fallen foes. Conversely, his weaknesses are that he is poor with crowd control and his overall damage reduces alongside the match time.
