21st Century Fox invests $100 million USD into Caffeine

Esports programming will be a part of this.

The streaming platform Caffeine revealed its plans for a broadcasting platform earlier this year, but now GamesIndustry.biz has reported that 21st Century Fox has invested $100 million USD into the company, with other companies also contributing funds too.

Some of this money will go towards creating Caffeine Studios - a project Caffeine is working on with Fox Sports - and this will work to produce original esports, gaming, and sports program for Caffeine, and executive chairman of 21st Century Fox Lachlan Murdoch will also join the Caffeine board.

Caffeine CEO Ben Keighran posted an update about the deal, saying:

"The infusion of funding and the creation of Caffeine Studios is going to be great for our users and broadcasters, allowing them to create exciting content using new features and tools that will not be possible on any other platform in the world."
