SK Gaming Partners with Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz is looking to expand their esports profile to be more than just an ESL partner.

German esports organisation SK Gaming has revealed in a post on Twitter that automobile giant Mercedes-Benz has come on board as both a partner and a shareholder. The change in ownership means that SK is now partially owned by both Mercedes-Benz and football club FC Köln, the latter of which united with SK Gaming in early 2018.

The press release from Mercedes-Benz states that the acquisition of SK "manifests the brands commitment to professional gaming as the spearhead of a global youth culture". They later went on to state that "we are fascinated by both the enthusiasm of this young and digital generation for professional gaming and the totally new form of media consumption and communication within the fan community. By getting involved in SK Gaming we want to participate in this dialogue - as an open-minded and interested partner."

You can see below what this means for the new jerseys, which now feature the logo, but as reported by GamesIndustry.biz that isn't the only good news for SK Gaming. ESforce has also signed an agreement with Daimler AG and FC Köln to sell its 67% stake in SK Gaming, meaning even more shift in ownership.

What do you think of the new jerseys?
