ESL has announced that ESL Play, a platform for tournaments and ladders for esports at all levels, now has an app on Android and iOS devices. This comes after 18,000 players have been testing the app in recent months.

The press release cites Newzoo, who claim 43% of esports fans watching over half their TV and video content on mobile, whereas "only 24% of the online population tunes in to esports competitions and programming on their phones and tablets."

The app has been in open beta for a few months, and now the app is released it allows players to see many ESL Play competitions, with tournaments for more than 50 titles. The app then allows you to sign up, report results, and upload media.

Philip Heltweg, Product Owner of ESL mobile, commented: "After responding to community feedback and adding team functionality during the public beta, we are happy to officially release the ESL Play App today. It will make signing up and playing matches on ESL Play easier than ever before, especially for mobile games. We will continue to improve the experience by providing better push notifications and profile management in the near future before expanding to include other league types like ladders."

Over time more features will be included, such as map voting, and feedback can be given to [email protected]. Is ESL Play on mobile something that will seriously increase ease of use for ESL Play competitions?
