Blizzard considering Overwatch "viewer maps" in the new year

This has been a particular area of feedback for them.
Sam Bishop 22 december 2016

Blizzard has released a developer update looking back at the stellar year Overwatch has had while also looking forward to what's coming in 2017, and Game Director Jeff Kaplan revealed that, in terms of esports, viewership is an area they have received feedback on and are looking into.

"We also are planning to get to some improvements for esports," Kaplan said, "in particular with some of our spectator modes in the near future. In particular we get [requests] often to have a map associated with viewing, so if you're watching a tournament or something like that, there's a viewer map. We've gotten tremendous feedback from our professional broadcast community, they've been amazing [...] we hope to get to some of those features in the new year."

In the video Kaplan also reveals how important feedback was in shaping both Overwatch's gameplay as well as its competitive side, both before release and after. Do you like the idea of viewer maps?
