Overwatch League opening week surpasses 10 million viewers

"The Overwatch League has the potential to become one of the most-watched leagues."

The Overwatch League kicked off last week in Los Angeles, an event we were in attendance to see, and according to a new report from Blizzard it was a pretty popular debut, as the opening week of the league was watched by over 10 million viewers across the world.

The number consolidates numbers from all four days of matches and across several streaming partners, including Twitch, Major League Gaming (MLG), and a bunch of Chineses streaming services, and the most-viewed match was Dallas Fuel versus Seoul Dynasty, peaking at 437,000 viewers on Twitch and MLG alone.

Pete Vlastelica, president and CEO of MLG, thinks Overwatch "has the potential to become one of the most-watched leagues, of any kind, in the world." Also, according to Kevin Lin, COO of Twitch (who paid $90 million USD for a two-year deal of exclusive streaming), the Overwatch League "demonstrates the power and potential of esports".

Do you think these numbers can grow?
