It's no secret that more and more big names are getting behind esports with sizeable investments, and now Eastday reports (via Yutang Sports) that Taiwan-based company AsusTek Computer Inc. (known as Asus to most of us) has invested up to $16 million USD in setting up an esports operation subsidiary, and that an esports team called Rogue Warriors will be established as a part of this.
According to the report Rogue Warriors is expected to compete in Tencent's League of Legends Pro League, and Asus CFO Nick Wu allegedly said that this subsidiary is considering esports as its major business pillar, and will focus on expansion in Chinese esports.
Asus CEO Jerry Shen also reportedly claimed that the business won't be limited to sales of esports-related products like computers and displays, but their aim is to create their own esports ecosystem, which may mean event organisation and team operations, with the first stage being to set up a team in Taiwan and China.
