The Baltimore Ravens NFL team has announced a new esports initiative, designed to bring fans of the team together to compete in a variety of esports competitions and activities. Known as the Ravens Gaming League, the initiative will be kicking off later this month with a Fortnite tournament between June 25-27, and will also see the hosting of a second tournament later this summer, with the unannounced, but expected Madden NFL 22 being the chosen game.

As part of the initiative, the Ravens has partnered with Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) in a multi-year deal that will see the Ravens Gaming League played over the EEG's Esports Gaming League platform.

"We are excited to launch this new initiative and explore the benefits for our fans," Ravens senior vice president of marketing Brad Downs stated. "The gaming and esports industry offer unique opportunities to engage with our fan base, in addition to Ravens players who have shown interest in gaming and esports."

For the Fortnite tournament, the winner will get $500 in cash, a VIP home game experience (which includes transportation, hotel accommodation, and Ravens gear), as well as the opportunity to play against a current Ravens player.
