In the annual meeting of China Sports Venue Association recently, the members voted to pass the proposal of establishing an esports department, as reported by Myzaker, which will combine leisure sports, technology, interactive entertainment, and cultural tourism with esports.
This is being established to try and combat the lack of business, content, and popularity of traditional sports carriers, as well as to create professionalism, and the CSVA will promote more esports activities, ranging from fan meetings to streaming. On top of that the esports branch will also work to promote the construction of esports venue throughout the country, as well as integrating industry resources like stadium design and construction, equipment, game development, program production and broadcasting, education and training, and competition activities.
Industry self-regulation and setting standards is also a goal for this department too, so it seems like they're taking the venture very seriously. Do you think this is a good move to promote esports in China?
