Controllers thrown on football pitch in Swiss protest on esports

The match had to be stopped.
Sam Bishop 24 september 2018

Esports has moved more and more into the eyes of traditional sports in recent months and years, with sports clubs getting involved with competitive gaming and hosting esports events, but not all fans are on board, as demonstrated by a particular group in the Swiss Super League.

According to a report from RTS (as brought to us by Dexerto) a match between Young Boys and Basel was stopped after supporters of both teams protested against esports by throwing tennis balls and controllers onto the pitch, with the report saying that both sides disagree with the involvement in esports.

The match did eventually restart, but the incident and the accompanying banners show that not everyone is on board with esports and traditional sports mixing. Can you understand their point of view?
