Dallas Fuel DPS Xzi announces retirement

And only days before the next Overwatch League season starts.

Dallas Fuel DPS star Ki-hyo "Xzi" Jung has announced that he will be retiring from professional play, only a few days before the next season of the Overwatch League has begun.

The post that detailed the retirement has stated the reasoning for Xzi's decision as, "returning home to South Korea to receive treatment for a back condition that requires ongoing medical attention." Xzi does, however, plan to return to competitive play in the future, but will focus on personal health for the time being.

"We take the well-being of our players seriously and support Xzi in his decision to return to Korea where he has a familiar support system of family and medical providers," said Mat Taylor, General Manager of the Dallas Fuel. "While we certainly wish he could have competed with us to start this season, health comes first. We wish Xzi a full recovery and hope he is able to return to competitive gaming stronger and healthier in the future."

The Overwatch League is back this Friday, April 16, with the first match of the season planned to pit the Dallas Fuel up against the Houston Outlaws. Be sure to catch all of the action, right here.
