Dota 2 The International 10 to return this August

And it will have a prize pool of over $40 million.

Valve has announced in a blog post that the Dota 2 The International 10 will in fact return this August, after a pretty hefty break thanks to the pandemic. The event will be kicking off between August 5 (when group stages begin), to August 15 (when the grand final is planned for).

The International usually has the largest prize pool out of any competitive esports tournament to compete in, and this year isn't any different, as teams will be competing for a share of $40,018,195, as well as, of course, the championship title.

Valve has not yet officially decided on what will happen regarding attendance, and has stated in the blog post:

"As we continue to plan the event around the shifting landscape presented by the ongoing global pandemic, our focus remains on finding ways to hold a high quality tournament in the safest way possible. This means we're waiting to release additional details on attendance options as we gather more information on developments heading into summer."

More information about this is set to be revealed sometime in June.
