ESL and PUBG Corp. bringing Charity Challenge to Gamescom

Seeing influencers and qualified players earn money for a good cause.

ESL and PUBG Corp. have teamed up to bring PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds to Gamescom in August as part of PlayerUnknown's Charity Challenge, seeing 32 duo teams compete in in-game challenges.

As you might have guessed, this also involved collecting money for charities, and guests will include invited influencers, and players that got there through regional qualifiers, with the open bracket online tournaments starting on ESL Play in July.

Three event days will see 12 matches take place at the ESL Arena in Cologne, and the challenges will be decided based on votes taking place on Twitter and Facebook, with all matches streamed on the official ESL PUBG Twitch channel.

"We are looking forward to once again feature PUBG with a new and exciting format, as part of the world's largest video games and gaming convention in ESL's hometown" said Fabian Scheuermann, Vice President of Product Operations & Strategy at ESL. "We were convinced of the concept to support charity projects with esports from day one and are very glad to be a part of it."

"We are excited to return to Gamescom this year with PLAYERUNKNOWN's Charity Challenge. This event will feature some new ways for our community to interact with players, and all for a great cause. We have invited some of our favorite streamers and content creators, and over the course of 3 days we will bring a lot of fun and help a lot of people along the way, all in the wonderful city of Cologne," added Brendan 'PlayerUnknown' Greene of PUBG Corp.
