The London-based esports organisation, Excel Esports, will be losing one of its founding members, as Joel Holmes-Darby has announced his departure. Initially revealed in a tweet, Holmes-Darby gave a statement regarding the decision.

"After an exciting journey, I confirm my departure from Excel Esports," said Holmes-Darby. "I am very proud of everything we have accomplished at Excel during the last six years. Starting a company with my brother Kieran and watching it grow from a bedroom hobby to a multi-million pound organisation is an experience I feel lucky and privileged to have lived through."

He went on further saying; "Along the way I have made many great friends and worked with some incredible people, and there are many milestones and achievements I am deeply proud of. The trajectory of the brand is extremely positive and I look forward to seeing how things progress and unfold over the coming years."

In regard to where Holmes-Darby plans on moving to next, he stated on Twitter; "I am not yet sure what my next adventure will be, but am looking forward to whatever challenge it may be."
