G2 finish their debut season in the professional League of Legends series on top.

G2 Esports are the 2016 Spring champions in the European League of Legends Championship Series. The team faced Origen in the finals, who they took down with a 3-1 map score.

G2 has had a dominant run in the Spring split, finishing the regular season in 1st place with a 15-3 win record - a monumental performance given that this was the team's debut split in the LCS.

It's a run that's reminiscent of what their oppponent, Origen, did in their debut split last summer. That team placed second in the regular season and made it to the final of the playoffs then as well.

G2 won the first game of the series, with Origen taking the second. The third game went to G2 in dominant fashion, while the fourth and deciding map was a close one that could have gone Origen's way if not for a few small but decisive mistakes.

Besides winning the trophy, G2 Esports earn a spot in next month's Mid-Season Invitational tournament, where they'll face the winners from the other major professional League of Legends leagues. They also bag 90 championship points that count towards qualifying for the World Championship in the Fall.

G2 Esports are the EU LCS 2016 Spring Split champions.
