Hangzhou Spark confirmed as next Overwatch League team

The Spark is set to light up the party in February.
Mike Holmes 15 november 2018

Hangzhou Spark, or The Spark as they'll no doubt be called, are the latest team to join the roster ahead of the upcoming new season of the Overwatch League.

The name apparently "symbolises extreme speed and power, and also represents the electric nature and creative spark of the Bilibili brand" and they'll represent the Chinese region when the league starts up again in February. No players have been confirmed as yet, so expect more news on the newcomers as the Overwatch community prepares to resume hostilities early next year.

"Bilibili's community holds a deep affinity for esports and we are excited to participate in a professional league centred around Blizzard Entertainment's blockbuster game, Overwatch," Bilibili CEO Rui Chen said in the announcement. "The upcoming Overwatch League season is sure to provide hours of thrilling entertainment for our users as we continue to actively expand our content in popular genres. Esports have been among the top videos viewed by our growing number of users, and we look forward to delivering highly competitive and entertaining gameplay for our supporters worldwide."
