Riot Games has announced the first official esports event for its card-based title, Legends of Runeterra. Revealed in a development update video, the Seasonal Tournament model is slated to start a publisher backed competitive season as soon as October 14, with plans for players across multiple regions to compete for a spot at a major tournament in December.

It has also been stated that players will be in for a shot at qualifying for the season-ending event through special gauntlet events, or with success in the title's in-game ranked ladder.

The season-ending event is planned to take place on December 6, with a last minute, "Last Chance Gauntlet" coming on December 5.

You can check out the full developer diary here, on the Legends of Runeterra official YouTube channel.
