Sony looking to make esports "bigger, better, different"

Their global sales chief Jim Ryan said the plans are in progress.

Esports is no doubt a big concern for developers these days, considering the success that companies such as Riot Games have had with League of Legends, as well as Valve with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and during an interview with Time Sony's global sales chief Jim Ryan said that it's a big concern for them as well.

"It's a subject that is occupying us quite a lot these days, and something we're looking at very carefully," he explained. "We're trying to find precisely what the role of the platform holder is in that value chain. Seeing how we can actually make the whole esports thing bigger, better, different and bespoke to PlayStation is something you're going to be hearing quite a lot about in the next year or two."

What could these plans entail?
