Street Fighter getting a 30th Anniversary tournament series

Featuring old games from the franchise.
Sam Bishop 14 mei 2018

Street Fighter is one of the biggest franchises in the fighting game community right now, and perhaps one of the biggest in esports too, and now developer Capcom has revealed the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Tournament Series, featuring three separate competitions this year with each having a $7,000 USD prize pool.

While Street Fighter V is almost always the order of the day in the competitive scene these days, the three competitions here will focus on some older titles, namely Super Street Fighter II Turbo; Street Fighter Alpha 3; and Street Fighter III: Third Strike. These tournaments will be taking place throughout this year, at three different locations.

"The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Tournament Series celebrates the series' competitive spirit that inspired players around the world, from those who played at home to legendary players winning local tournaments at arcades, pizza parlors and convenience stores. Reignite your competitive drive and become champion by registering for the SF30th Anniversary tournaments at CEO, SoCal Regionals, and Canada Cup 2018," the description on the website reads.

We even have a trailer for the tournaments, as you can see below. Are you glad to see older games getting some love?
