Toronto Esports has announced that their Overwatch player Matt "Dellor" Vaughn has been released from the club following the repeated use of racist language during a stream.
"Toronto Esports is an organisation built on inclusivity, and we have always had a zero- tolerance policy for any forms of discrimination," said president Ryan Pallett. "Immediately upon learning of the incident, the player was interviewed, admitted to the offence, and was notified that his contract with the organisation was being terminated."
Dellor has since posted on Twitter to say: "I am sorry. I f***** up. I am done with esports and won't be returning." He has also posted the following message via TwitLonger, giving a deeper insight into the incident.
"Someone responded telling me that "I'm done for life" and that this wasn't a "wake up call". I just want to say that yes, I am done for life. I am quitting esports with no intention of returning (not that I could after this). This is still a wakeup call, regardless. I've destroyed too many things and hurt too many people in my life because of my personality. Whether it's just a character flaw or if I actually do have some sort of mental issue, I've waited too long to find out. I'm going to the doctor and I'm going to try to get help so I hopefully become be a better and happier person."
