VfB Stuttgart signs two FIFA players

They are sponsored by the likes of Puma.
Sam Bishop 20 juli 2017

German football club VfB Stuttgart has announced their movement into esports, signing FIFA players Erhan 'Dr. Erhano' Kayman and Marcel 'Marlut' Lutz to represent them in PS4 and Xbox One competitions.

A lot of the club's partners also support the esports side of things as well now, including Puma, Fischer, and Schunk, with FIFA company Stark Esports helping the club enter the world of competitive gaming.

"Entering FIFA esports, and thus, a steadily growing sphere with an immensely interesting demographic, adds to our core activity, soccer, and is a natural fit into the virtual world," said board member Jochen Röttgermann in the press release. "Gaming isn't just popular among the younger generation but also a focus for many companies, who want to bolster their brand popularity, just like VfB Stuttgart."

Is it big news any more that football clubs are signing esports players?
